DRAPING

DRAPING

Dear Friends....welcome back!

Today we are going to talk about DRAPING, I must to confess that this was so far my favorite workshop, I really enjoy Caryl's lecture today, showing us how to make a base for a dress, so we can add any other details on the garment, we had to work in pairs, so this time I worked with Kim Steveson and we create some very inspired pieces of garment which we both were very pleased.
Here some details of today's workshop.

1. These are the material we need for this workshop: Calico, paper, pencil, tape measurement and ruler.

2. And a good quality stand.

3.  Iron the Calico helps to get a better result.

4. Once ironed, we started to mold the fabric on the  stand to create the body shape.

5. We need to pay attention to the collar detail, cutting some parts of the fabric, so we can  follow the collar line.

6. Then we have to pin the fold we made before  in the  bust and waste lines.

7. The same process must be repeated on the left hand side.

8. The same process applies to the back side of the garment...

9. Always following the same process...pinning the folds on the shoulder and waste lines, following the body shape.

10. My dear fellow student....the lovely Chloe  modelling for me....thanks Chloe!!! love you!!!

11. Once we take the mold from the stand, we unpin  it and  place  the fabric on  top of the paper, so we can  take the pattern, according with the size we want.

12.  Again here the same process.....

12. After that, back on the stand again and we will work now some  draping.  creating  some  very creative and interesting garments.

13. Starting with the top....left hand side....then the right and so  on....

14.  And here....the first garment we created...very  theatrical...

15. Same piece....full length.

16. From Another angle...

17. Very interesting collar....bulky!!!!

18. Front detail.

19. Back full length.

20. Back detail.
